The goal keepers are trained by Eric de Ruiter, a passionate Dutch coach who has gained many years of experience training all ages and levels of goalkeepers.

Training is based on “Dutch” philosophies whereby we work on not only technical drills but also the mental side of goal keeping. Halfway through the session, goalkeepers will be joining the field players in order to work on finishing drills and matches.

Every training is a build up towards a game play and consists of the following:

  • Warming up

  • Foot work

Goal Keepers’ Objectives

Our Dutch goal keeping principles are based on technique. We believe that a solid and clean technique should be the base of every goalkeeper. So, every drill starts with getting the technique right before getting into intensive repetition. Technique doesn’t only apply to the hands but also to feet, stepping and general posture/ positioning.

We will train:

  • Hand positioning

  • Catching

  • Diving (low, medium, high)

  • Foot work (agility, positioning)

Offensive game play starts with the goal keeper so we will work on distribution using both feet and hands.

We will train:

  • Passing, throwing and rolling

  • Reading the game

  • Analysing potential threats from the opponent

  • How to deal with pressure play

As we are training the intensity will be increased whereby goalkeepers will be working on building up stamina.

At the end of the session we will be playing matches whereby the goalkeepers will be coached and implement what they have been working on during the drills.

After the session there is always time to ask additional questions.
